MUSIC THEORY for songwriters

MUSIC THEORY for songwriters
learn the basics in an accessible, supportive space.

This workshop is designed specifically for songwriters who want to better understand how songs are put together and how music theory can support their creative process. Concepts are introduced step by step and explained in clear, practical ways, helping demystify theory and connect it directly to writing melodies, choosing chords, shaping song structure, and developing musical ideas.

Through guided listening, simple exercises, and group discussion, participants will explore how melody, harmony, rhythm, and structure work in real songs. Rather than focusing on rules, the workshop shows how theory can be used as a creative toolkit—offering new ways to get unstuck, make intentional choices, and expand songwriting possibilities.

The session encourages curiosity and experimentation, with flexible ways to engage regardless of instrument, experience, or learning style. No prior music theory knowledge or music-reading skills are required.

Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of foundational music concepts, increased confidence talking about their songs, and practical tools they can apply straight away to their own songwriting and collaborative work.
